On this page you will find a list of those who feature on the School’s Roll of Honour. The list now includes 224 Old Westminsters, with a name added to our War Memorial only last year.
It is worth noting that it is not always straightforward to decide which Old Westminsters should be included in this list. Many deaths, from illness, accident and exhaustion, did not occur during active service, but were undoubtedly a result of the war. The work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission(CWGC) served as a guide but if someone was discharged owing to wounds or ill health, and subsequently died, they would no longer be eligible for a CWGC headstone. As a result 4 of the Old Westminsters listed below appear to be commemorated solely on the School’s War Memorial.
This website will ultimately include a full biography of each of the men listed below and include photographs where available. Each biography will be posted on the 100th anniversary of the individual’s date of death. Research is ongoing and this list may be modified as further information is uncovered.
